Wow, how did we get here? I remember getting my driver’s license as if it was only yesterday (it was 30 years ago)! So much has happened even in the last 20 year. WE are fully into the 21st century. And even in the last 20 years so much has occurred.
We haven’t even gotten started on the changes that will happen in their century. We might be in space in the next 20 years! Who really knows.
What it really means to each other is so different. What does 2020 mean to you. Does it mean excitement or worry? Does it bring curiosity of the future or regret of not doing things you wanted to do by now? What about now? How do you feel now?
Now in 2020 we have so much. We have smart phones where we can communicate on short notice, we can talk to someone at the other end of the world. We have tablets (just like from StarTrek) were we can learn new information. We now have cars that are becoming self driving. There is so much we have that we didn’t have before.
IF we compare to the 1920’s to now, so much is better than it was before. The level of world poverty has more the halved. Vehicles are a plenty meaning we can travel across country to see family and friends in a day rather than days. Heck we can fly to another country instead of taking a boat that takes a month to cross a vast ocean. Food is plenty. School is for everyone. We don’t have to save for months to get a new shirt for school. Women are given the same rights as men, legally everyone is equal (socially we have work to do). Opportunity is there for everyone, so much so that sometimes it is hard what to choose. There is so much to be thankful for that has happened over the past 100 years.
I am not sure it I will be here for the 2120’s but I do think that we are going to see much more progress that we could never have dreamt of just like our grandparents didn’t dare to think was possible in the 1920’s.
Enjoy this time as 100 years could happen really fast again.
