I love Iyanla Vanzant. I first was introduced to her when I read her book “In the Meantime” years ago. This book allowed me to not get so worried about being single for a long period of time, or when a relationship has ended. I learned to be okay with it and take the lesson I am learning from each moment alone or the relationship that didn’t become a forever relationship.
I have also watched her on her show #Fixmylife. Watching her dig deep into each persons’ darkness in order to find what is holding that person down or back from living there life fully with purpose, amazed me. I wanted to help people like her.
In reality, it is very hard for many to dig deep into the darkness of ourselves to get the change we want. We sometimes have a hard time finding a safe place where we can be that vulnerable. Most people then keep it to themselves and let it build wondering why they continue to repeat actions that are not beneficial for themselves or others around them.
This weekend I was lucky to accidentally join a group where a safe space was created for those there to express themselves and dig deep on the feelings we hid (usually not to hurt those we love around us). Groups like this is so helpful. There are times when being able to express feelings to strangers is much easier than to those you love. The group I want to this weekend was called Spiritual Psychotherapy Group Shop facilitated by Shelly Flanagan . Shelly was brilliant at getting you to look deep in to find the feelings that need to be said then working on the being okay with them and letting go enough to start the change within.
Whether we find groups like Shelly’s or an individual who can help you dig deep, the willingness to get there is the first step to the change we need to grow and better ourselves. Dig deep, talk to someone to release it and notice the relief you will get and the freedom to change.
Hugs and love to you all.
